According to the policy of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, who wants to establish a rail industry in the country using the principle of “Thai First”, which means Thais make, Thais use, Thais must get it first, the Department of Rail Transport (DRT) has considered adjusting the implementation period to be faster as a 4-year urgent plan (2020-2023) for the procurement of trains that do not use advanced technology and a 6-year plan (2020-2025) for the procurement of trains that use advanced technology, including the DRT has proposed (BOI) to consider increasing the area of ​​receiving additional privileges to promote the rail industry, in addition to Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces.

And in the Market Sounding meeting to survey the interest of private entrepreneurs in the development of the rail industry on February 14, the meeting resolved to approve the 4-year urgent plan (2020-2023) to make the rail industry emerge as a concrete thing as soon as possible. As for the 6-year plan (2020-2025), it was proposed for the Ministry of Industry to consider. The SRT will collect the opinions of the private sector to propose as a guideline for the development of the rail industry and related industries in Thailand to the Ministry of Transport before submitting it to the Cabinet for approval.
